Whitby is bounded by the sea and the North Yorkshire Moors. The moorland is the most amazing experience in the height of the summer green grass and the purple of the heather in bloom. The smell of the heather is heavy and sweet to the nose. The bleating of sheep in the ears and the sound of birds. |

The sea likewise brings more to the senses, the sound of gulls, the salty smell of the sea, the colour of the sea, the sky, the boats and the houses. |
